Dave. [His tone's sharp and he's worried, immediately so, and he isn't entirely sure what to say next.] What are you talking about? Did someone say something to you out there?

No. I mean, not recently. It was a while ago. Just... [ another shrug, another pause as he remembers john can't see. ] Two different people, two different situations, both of 'em I super deserved, and one of 'em is here. Not really the point.

This is probably a good thing. I mean, bein' split up.

Kind of the point. [Dave brought it up and John assumes it bothers him still. It definitely bothers John and...he vaguely has suspicions. He doesn't say though.]

How is being split up good, you think?

Insert platitudes about distance and hearts here? [ look let's not talk about if it bothers dave??? mostly he just believes it, full stop. ]

I am pretty sure absence doesn't make the heart grow fonder when the heart is overly fond as it is, dude.

Really? 'Cause I'm pretty sure...well, it's just "time", not "absence".

I'm not the time guy and my point stands. I can definitely grow more fond of you pretty much all the time, but I am overly so as it is. So being split up is stupid.

I don't think there's a finite limit to love, anyway.

No? I like to think not. [There's a sigh though.] I still do not see how being split up is good, but I know I'll get to come back to you and that is all that matters to me.
