I absolutely will take it from you, otherwise how're you ever gonna learn, Eggs? Like, you can't just get handed all the prizes to start with. Those lousy participation sports prizes with literally always a dude playing soccer even if it's not soccer, like soccer is somehow the baseline sport even though I think that's not quite accurate in America? I feel like everyone always talks about football. Fuck, I hate football. Don't play football. Or you can actually play it but like don't make me watch. ...Well, I'd watch you, but like, the game.

[He's just. Smirking a little as Dave rambles on.]

You done? [But okay, okay.] First of all I am not built for football so no worries there and second of all you remember I played soccer for like four years right? And Eren watches soccer, too. So soccer is kind of a baseline sport still.

Of course I remember that. [ no he still can't fucking remember that reliably ] You could definitely tackle dudes though?

I probably could but I kind of gave up the sports thing when I went back to music. I think I grew out of most of my aggression.

[Eyebrow raise. "Too bad", huh? But he says nothing.] Yeah. Did you do something new?

[ goddamnit john stop paying attention!!! ] Always, but that's not why I brought it up. I want to like...do a live mixing session maybe?

Kinda yeah? Like...hang out together and yeah. Or I can teach you to mix.

I would be cool with either of those but learning to mix sounds really fun? I've never really touched turntables before.

Cool. Not today, but like. Someday in the nearish future? [ he's pretty much given up on eating anything further so he closes the carton and will get up to actually go put it in the minifridge. ]

Maybe next Saturday? That can be our thing for the week. [He frowns lightly when Dave stops eating but he doesn't stop him and just continues picking at his food.]

[ once it's in he goes back to sit by john and just. lean into his side like he sometimes does, letting his cheek rest on john's shoulder. ] Sounds like a date.

[A free arm loops around Dave's shoulders to hold him there.] Sweet. I am excited for that...but this is a really good date, too.

Let me revel in the fact I can use that phrase literally. [ his eyes drift shut but he's not drowsy or anything. just relaxing. ]

[He doesn't exactly reply. Not verbally, anyway. Instead he just leans over to kiss Dave's forehead.]

[ rude. it's a sweet gesture that gets a huff of laughter. ] I did use it literally a few times before I was allowed. I just pretended I didn't.

What, date in the literal sense? [He doesn't mind this, moving to lean against the bed and pull Dave closer to hug and watch the stars.] I probably would not have stopped you either.

You maybe would've back then?

Maybe I would have but I would have maybe considered it a little more, too.

[parodeity]

Oh. [ welp. ] I didn't want to, uh, push you? And I didn't figure I had a snowball's chance in hell anyway until you kissed me.

Guess that makes both of us. [A grin.] I was nervous about it for a long time so like...realistically, yes, not pushing was a good idea. I guess it does not matter too much now that we're together.
