[It works. There's a semi-playful yet semi-scolding bite to Dave's tongue when he stifles that moan because that's not fair. He likes hearing what Dave likes and reacts to and he thinks it's pretty deserved by now. They're alone and together and it's Saturday and there are zero obligations they have to take care of.

His fingers play out a slow melody up and down Dave's spine, each divet acting as a key for his fingers. The thumb over his cheek also renders a small purr-like noise. It's definitely soothing for him, at least.]

[ zero obligations until dave drags himself out of bed and off to minato's thing, anyway. if he ever goes back to bed. there's that nagging need for air again, and dave pulls back and this time doesn't go back to kiss john immediately, instead brushing a kiss over his jaw and then dropping his forehead to john's shoulder, sighing quietly. ]

Mm. [ that explains nothing but he's nuzzling closer and this is stupid and somewhere bordering on platonic again, except the weirdly clingy kind he'd gotten up to after john let hugs be a thing. ]

[It's fine. He continues playing notes and holding him tight and letting Dave be a weird and clingy koala.]

I am going to take that as "John, I love you so much" and call it good. [Teasing, but he also presses a kiss to Dave's head since he's doing the burrowing thing instead.]

I love you so, so much. [ muttered into john's shoulder, but audible. ] I missed just being around you. This month sucked, don't leave me again that long?

[windeity]

[There's a pause because yeah, this month seriously sucked.]

I missed you, too. I am pretty sure I would have missed you even if we were still just friends though. That was way too long and annoying. [But yeah, cool, he doesn't plan on leaving again for a long while.] What do you want to do today?

[parodeity]

Ummm. Minato's birthday thing is later today. Otherwise I just want to hang out with you? What about you?

[windeity]

It is still technically Saturday so my time is yours. So while you're at Minato's birthday thing I will probably catch up on some work here and wait for you.

[parodeity]

You can come if you want? Or is it like...are you chill if I go?

[windeity]

I am chill if you go by yourself if that's what you want to do. You're closer to Minato than I am and I don't want to just invite myself. It'll be fine and you guys can have fun.

[parodeity]

He likes you. But I don't want to make you feel like...awkward?

[windeity]

I don't think it would be awkward but...[A shrug.] Unless you really want me to go, I do not mind hanging out here with Mewpac and waiting for you to come home later. I promise.

[parodeity]

I mean, I kind of want you to go unless you feel like stayin' in?

[windeity]

[His hand leaves Dave's spine to run up and thread into the back of his hair.]

If you want me to go, I will go. It'll be fun. I like when we have space and do stuff with other friends, but I don't mind tagging along, too.

[parodeity]

I want you to stay with me today? [ usually he'd say it would be fine to like, split, but today even though he wants to go see minato, he wants to keep john nearby. ] Just today.

[windeity]

[There's a nod and he's just petting Dave's hair.]

Okay. [Clingy...not that John can argue though.] Let me know when you want to go and we'll go.

[parodeity]

It's not till later today. [ he's...definitely being clingy, because john still has yet to tell him off for it ever. there's not that many people dave lets himself hang off of or get actual physical contact from. which is probably why this is So Much. ]

[windeity]

That's fine. We can just hang out in bed until we have to go if you want? Or here's fine. [At least their current spot means a higher chance of making out again, but.]

[parodeity]

[ dave hums, then says: ] Your birthday or today. Pick one.

[windeity]

If I ask "for what" you're not going to tell me, are you?

[parodeity]

I'll lift the kissing in bed ban for exactly one of those days. [ ganbatte. ]

[windeity]

[...what if he dies.]

Um. [...DX!!!!] Just one, huh? No chance of maybe bargaining for both?

[parodeity]

[ unlocked: a sleepy laugh. ] Just one. Birthday present now or later.

[ he's not even trying to tip the scale either way, though he stops slouching and pulls back so he can see john properly. ]

You are the worst. [There's a grin.] ...but I think...my birthday? [He immediately Regrets.] I like presents on my actual birthday.

[parodeity]

Yeah? Well, what bargaining plans did you even have, genius? Now you have a thing to look forward to.

[ ............that feels overconfident to say but he's pretty sure that's the case? ]

[windeity]

I do have a thing to look forward to, you're right. [He makes a face though.] Though I was kind of hoping that making out with you in bed would prove it would not be the end of the world to do so.
