[ there's hesitation like john may be getting to notice there frequently is before dave admits to a preference, when he's not quite willing to cop to it but makes himself anyway. ]

You too. [ and dave won't but he can simulate it well enough so there we go?? he won't go to cling to john or anything but he'll just stay where he is, arms crossed over his chest and eyes shut behind his shades. ]
[Eventually he'll settle down even if he doesn't exactly sleep. His breathing never evens out and instead he just lays side by side with Dave and stares at the ceiling as the music plays. He'll stay there until the morning at least and sort of settle for squeezing his shoulder and getting up. Off to fight another day, it seems.]
