Not particularly? [A half-smile.] It was...really poor taste even for us. And I think I just realized some things I didn't know about the world back there that I'm not sure I'm okay with. But at least the normal Dave would've known better.

Not without probably fucking up timelines. It's all stuff from the past anyway which means it already happened? And Jade and Dave aren't dating anymore so it's whatever.

[She hesitates, but then reaches up to put a hand on his shoulder quickly and give it a squeeze.]

[It's surprising but he gives a small smile, a hand reaching up to cover hers for a moment before he lets go.]

Thanks. It's maybe not as surprising as it should be, given how things worked out in this life, but it's whatever. I'll worry about it later. I have other things to do here.

Surprising or not, it still must be garbage, right?

[And there's a slight frown as she moves her hand away.]

[He just bites at his lip.]

Yeah. It's garbage. [But that's all he says while he shakes his head.] It's okay. Really. We still have a lot of soup left to serve right?

[She doesn't want to force him either way, but it's still pretty clear that she's Concerned.]

Natalie. [There's a grin.] I promise it's fine. It's all other-life stuff and I can handle it. I'm kind of pissed about the timing of everything but it's fine.

...Okay.

[The Concern stays, but she lets it go.]

Let me know when you're ready to go back in, then.

[He's pushing himself from the wall but he works on a more assuring grin. Let's not tell Natalie horrible bullshit and just focus on embarrassing teenage stuff.]

I'm ready. I'm back to mostly freaking out about Dave and stuff so that is probably progress.

[The grin does help a little even if she's not completely convinced, so she heads back towards the door.]

Round two. I think we need to swap out the pots, too, for refills. I'll take chicken this time if you want to do veggie?

I'm cool with switching.

[She mentions, as she grabs one of the pots so she can bring it to the kitchen in the back to refill it.]

Awesome. [And that's all he says while he's a little distracted, grabbing the second pot to swap out for a refill. At least the rest of the afternoon should go on without incident.]
