[His hands come up to hold onto Dave's wrists instead.]

What's up?

I'm...[ fifty days, he reminds himself, and dave bites his lip for a minute, staring. ] You're impossible.

[ but he means it in a thousand different ways. ]

[windeity]

...yeah, well. [A lopsided smile.] I love you. What do you expect?

[parodeity]

[ what did he expect. ]

...To feel completely terrified. [ he laughs, and leans in to kiss john again, soft and slow and quiet. ]

[windeity]

[The first question, of course, is "of what" but he doesn't get to properly ask since Dave's mouth is on his and he's keeping the kiss just as slow. He doesn't mind this and he won't pull away first, keeping himself still and pliant and letting his eyes shut.]

[parodeity]

[ john doesn't need to know??? dave's keeping his balance while kneeling and leaning with one hand on the bed and one on john's knee, but it's light pressure only to steady himself. he doesn't push any further than this. ]

[windeity]

[He moves to hold onto Dave's hip to also steady him, pressure a little harder to keep him grounded and he doesn't up the kiss since he's happy to keep it slow if that's what Dave wanted to start. He could get used to this.]

[parodeity]

[ there's a soft sort of hum when john touches him, and dave pulls back just as slowly as he'd kissed john and just watches him in the dark. ]

[windeity]

[He lets him pull away but he doesn't remove his hand, locking his eyes with Dave's and remaining quiet for a moment.]

...okay? [As in "are you okay" since he can tell most days but sometimes he can't.]

[parodeity]

...Yeah. Just tryin' to figure you out. [ it's his dumbest hobby. ]

[windeity]

[There's a laugh.] What? You already have so much of me figured out, babe. It's not even really a mystery anymore. Maybe.

[parodeity]

You say that, but I rarely know where the fuck you're at. [ it's a sigh or a breath and he just kisses john's forehead and shifts back to sit at his side. ] About some stuff, anyway.

[windeity]

[He moves to try and catch Dave's hand before he goes too far.] Hey. You know you can just ask me if you aren't sure, don't you?

[parodeity]

No, I know. So I've been told? Just, this is more... [ complicated? it's not, maybe, he's just afraid to ask. ] ...a wait and see situation. Don't worry about it.

[windeity]

...how long do you want to wait? [He's still not letting go of Dave's hand.]

[parodeity]

It's...not a matter of "want". [ he's not pulling his hand away. he just laughs, soft. ] I'll wait forever, that's...not an issue.

[windeity]

Then what is? Can I ask?

[parodeity]

[ ummmm. ] ...not wanting to push someone?

[windeity]

[And he gets it!

Sort of.

Going in the totally opposite direction. In fact, he ducks his head a bit and appears sheepish, thumb rubbing over Dave's knuckles as he nods.] My bad. I get it. Then...I'll wait forever, too. It's not a big deal to wait.

[parodeity]

[ dave just gives john the blank look that he usually gives john when he's pretty sure john completely misunderstood something or just said something really questionable. ] You'll wait forever for...what?

[windeity]

You? [Duh, Dave.] I'm not going to push you into stuff you don't want to say or do yet. And I don't mind waiting until you're comfortable with...whatever.

[parodeity]

[ ok cool, good to know john completely misunderstood him and dave just. sighs. ] I wasn't talkin' about me, but good to know?

[windeity]

What? You shouldn't be worried about pushing me either, dude. That's kind of crazy. [But there's a slight grin.] I think you underestimate how much I like you.

[parodeity]

I'm a realist, [ dave corrects, but he picks up his carton of chinese to swirl the noodles around with his chopsticks. ] you should eat your food, babe.

[windeity]

[What about no though?]

...what do you mean by realist?
