...I don't know. Getting along with my dad better? [Which isn't a huge thing. Dave knows John's relationship with his father was maybe the healthiest of the Betas, but it's still worth noting it is a thing he thinks about.]

On the other hand, if we hadn't been, you might not have ever had the chance to meet Dirk. That doesn't seem that fair either.

That's an easy choice to make. [ john's dad over his brother, even the best version who he actually cared about. ]
