I think if we make the fishing cage things long enough we can avoid most of that. Where do you think we should take them after we get them out of here though?

Uh...there should be a body of water around here somewhere. We can either relocate them or - well, relocate them. They're useless to keep for eatin'.

[Almost subconsciously, a hand comes up to cradle his stomach a bit. Fucking crabs.]

We could check back in the forest and dump them in a stream somewhere. There has to be one of those somewhere for the boars, don't you think?

Yeah. There has to be more sources of water than just the bathhouse or there wouldn't be wild life. So I guess we can collect them all and then relocate them and then maybe...crab-proof the bathhouse so it doesn't happen again?

[windeity]

Is there such a thing as crab repellant? Like shark repellant but for crabs. Making the bathhouse crab-proof is a good idea since it will get pretty gross around here if people can't bathe without crabs.

Possibly there is but we don't have any? I was thinkin' more sealin' up the ways they got in.

But do we really know how they got inside in the first place? That is the part I'm not sure of.

[parodeity]

I am thinkin' we should maybe have a look around for that. Either there's, like, gaps somewhere, or they're getting in through the water in which case we're goin' to have to put in grates or something.

[windeity]

That makes sense. It's a bathhouse, right? The water has to be changed out or something so it's not just the same boiling water for so many people, I think. So maybe it drains out somewhere? [Yeah he doesn't know how this shit works.]

[parodeity]

Probably? [ like he knows????? ] We can check around the edges of things and see. We might actually wanna do that before we start tryin' to get the crabs out, since they will just come back if we do not stop them comin' in first off.

[windeity]

Good idea. Let's start from the back and work our way forward. Maybe by blocking the entrances we can herd the crabs to one location and help fish them out, too. Do you think boards would work for blocking? A grate would have to have bars small enough that the crabs can't shuffle in sideways.

[parodeity]

I mean, maybe boards would but I feel like stone might be better? The wood would get all...wet, right. Which is fine, but I feel like stone might stand up to the elements more here.

[ he will start heading towards the back, though, stepping around any crabs. ]

[He follows without complaint, occasionally kicking a crab into the water with the toe of his sneaker as they go.] Maybe stone will work but rocks deteriorate under elements too especially moving water. And if the water is boiling it's moving. Metal?

[parodeity]

Metal would be better than wood probably. [ SO...METAL IT IS? ] At some point someone - not us, necessarily, although we can - oughta fix this place up more. It ain't as bad as the cabins, but it could probably do with some deep cleanin'.

Yeah. If we get really bored I guess we can since this is where we'll be staying for a while. [The bathhouse is made of stone, too, but he's stopping in the back near the furthest pool.] Think we should look into fixing the cabins, too? They're pretty small. And we still don't even know where they came from.

[parodeity]

I don't see why not. I mean...from my understandin', we may not be stayin' here when we're worldhopping, but we will be all around that? And it's not like we have anythin' better to do, man.

[ dave drops to a crouch, examining the base of the house here. ]

Exactly. But it'll be sort of exciting to travel don't you think? Even if we aren't sure how long we will be gone, it's something to think about. [While Dave's doing that, John's walking along the edge of the pool looking for any signs of how the water's flowing in or changed out.]

Do you think if we fling the crabs off of the island and into space they'd catapult back, too?

I think if you plan to test that we should toss and then move way the fuck out of the way just in case they catapult back.

Okay but you agree it's still worth a shot, right? Maybe the crabs won't have the same impact we do because they're lighter so their pull to the planet isn't as much. [That's not really how science works but okay.]

I'm not sure that's actually how that works but I am pretty sure the idea is officially lodged in your head so we may as well do it. It could be fun?

[windeity]

We're not going to know until we try, so why not try? [A bright grin.] Plus, actually, it might be worth testing if it is a native versus invader thing. We do not know the possibilities of that either.

[parodeity]

Ok. After we block up the passages or whatever and get most of them out, we will save a few for throwin' into the abyss.

[windeity]

Awesome. [And back he goes to examine the pools.] If there are grates that's letting the water in, we just need to make the passages smaller. Or. How high do you think crabs can climb?

[parodeity]

I don't know? I mean...if we take The Little Mermaid as gospel, pretty high.

[windeity]

Okay, well, we are not in a Disney movie so let's think about real crabs? We could build walls that they couldn't climb or jump over but the water can still pass over the top of them. That might be a good solution, too.
