[Dave leaves the bed and John pouts, propping himself up a little before he watches him go.]

What's that supposed to mean? I am being plenty fair and you are not because you're leaving me and that was only, like, ten minutes. I require more than ten minutes of prime cuddling time, Dave.

No, you're not? You're all... [ GESTURES AT JOHN LIKE THAT EXPLAINS ANYTHING BETTER THE SECOND TIME as he wanders over to his desk ]

That straight up does not actually tell me anything. Where are you going?

When's the last time you shaved, babe? [ also he's just going to his desk to...apparently sort through his camera options. nervous habit. ]

[A sleepy stare. Dave what are you doing...]

I don't know. Like before we left the first time, I think? Maybe after that? It has been a little while, at least three weeks though.

Okay, well, cool. You suck. [ he's grabbing a camera, duh. and turning to lean against the desk, staring across the room in the dark.

he sets the flash to on and takes a picture, because he can. ]

[He blinks against the flash because what the fuck, Dave. He's used to this so there's a protesting little noise at the bright light before he squints through the dark.]

Okay. Cool. Can you come back now? You can take pictures of my face later.

I'm. Good over here?

[ what the fuck dave indeed. maybe john should go back to sleep. ]

You've been gone for like two weeks. [Why are they like this.]

[ because they're both five.

dave mutters something inaudible. ]

[Don't make him get out of bed???]

[Okay, he'll get up and take the covers with him, carefully heading over to where Dave's at his desk and stopping in front of him to lean into his chest and be practically nose to nose.]

[ why does john egbert want him Dead? he does the thing where his breath catches and he stops breathing regular, pulse speeding up. ]

[Yeah that...registers. He catches it and it's kind of attractive and instead he grins.]

Yeah, maybe. [He's still going to bump his forehead against Dave's though. Explain yourself, dude.]

[ let him live his poker face life in peace, stupid aspects??

dave...sets his camera gently aside on the desk out of harm's way, and then opts to kiss john instead of explaining himself, because that's way less embarrassing. ]

[windeity]

[It's a nice temporary distraction, goddamnit Dave. But he settles right into a kiss easily enough and goes quiet while he keeps it pretty soft and lazy, so whatever. Fucker.]

[ john will clearly 100% forget about the initial questioning. dave's left hand comes up to cup john's cheek, thumb rubbing absently down, and he doesn't try to shift things less soft and lazy. this is fine. ]

[Like normally that's not a bad plan, but Dave didn't think this through?

Or actually he did okay since John's leaning into Dave's hand and murmuring a little into the kiss while doing absolutely nothing to stop this. They can be here for a while.]

john's skin feels weird (great? weird great) against his fingertips, with the hair, and dave. laughs against john's mouth, sorry john. ]

[So much for your plan, jerk!! Dave laughs and John pulls back enough to talk.]

Myself, mostly. [ he grins. ] Sorry for wakin' you up.

It's okay. [Kind of. Dave's nice and perfect for cuddling and so John does so while they're standing.] I'm just glad you're home...but what did you say before you tried kissing me?
