I do not plan on attempting it anytime soon. [A little too firmly and a little too uncertain all at once. He doesn't want to tell Dave he doesn't trust himself to actually try in the first place.]

Is that okay? [He has a lot of concerns about Dave doing things and hurting himself without saying so.] I mean I guess out here is okay since we have seen it's okay but in case.

[ maybe it's not quite okay because it's his aspect and he's cut himself off from it before but he hasn't had someone else tell him no. there's the frazzled thought that if he gets himself killed by refusing to time travel it's going to be possibly the most ironic thing he's ever done.

[ dave doesn't move or flinch away, anyway? although he very specifically shoved his hands in his pockets earlier so he'd stop reaching out. ]

Got it. [ there are only a few instances he generally uses time travel, anyway, without planning. the non planned instances are, admittedly, "during battle to avoid death if it won't fuck with the timeline" but like eh. ] I'll send you notarized office memos every time.

You want to walk me back? [ that's...new. dave shrugs. ] Yeah, sure?

[He doesn't trust things currently and he's not sure where Dave's head is at. So he begins to walk. Like actually walk, not fly.]

You don't have to ask for shit like that. [ it's like. not even remotely close to being clingy or dave levels of clingy so he's not sure what john's doing, really.

dave's head is at least not in a worse place than it has been, mostly. which

is not saying anything great but what john doesn't know for sure won't hurt him, maybe. ]

[A shrug.] Can I sleep on the couch tonight? [It's...late...but also again he's wary of things. Dave just said he doesn't have to ask for certain things, but he asks anyway.]

[ rapid mental calculation:

1) like, obviously yes, he's not gonna say no to john
2) at least he'll know where the fuck john is for once
3) however, this might make it easier for john to tell dave does not sleep
4) except he has a bedroom and john said the couch
5) he can just stay awake in his bedroom and simply not clean the house or wander around aimlessly like normal
