Do you remember the honesty quest from months ago and not wanting to use a quest to be honest with me? It's like that. I don't want a quest to be why we're doing...anything, I guess. Is that dumb? It's kind of dumb.

It's not dumb. I kinda just wanted to be with you anyway though? [ is he - yeah he's going a little red. fuck being pale. ] So. I was kidding about the quest part. Just wanted my boyfriend's attention. And also affection.

You can have those whenever you want, dumbass. [Just throwing that out there.] I don't mind. It's nice having you back.

[parodeity]

Maybe, [ but dave figures the topic can die, and he fairly gently shoves john off of him and onto his back, hovering thoughtfully above him. ] But sometimes it's nice to make an excuse.

[windeity]

[And away he rolls onto his back, blinking up at Dave curiously.]

What kind of affection are you hoping for, Strider? I can probably oblige. [Given he's also trapping him with his legs so Dave's forced to stay in place, that's most likely.]

...whatever you'll give me, always. [ they can talk bullshit and just stay close or they can sleep or maybe dave can lean down slow and kiss john again. he's okay with any of them, though he picks option three. ]

[He's pretty sure Dave's hinting, at least, and he can pick up on a hint well enough. It takes a moment for him to lift his head and apply pressure to Dave's lips with his own, letting his hands curl over Dave's shoulders and pull him down a little closer. Dave being Dave is probably the best thing to happen right now and he's getting a little more confident with initiating stuff and not psyching himself out.

It doesn't hurt that he likes kissing and he likes kissing Dave specifically but whatever. He's not sure what, exactly, he's trying to prove other than that he really likes his boyfriend and appreciates his stupid face, but it's sort of a demanding kiss all the same.]

[ demanding is more than acceptable if surprising. john may be a novice to kissing but dave is a novice to thinking john likes him back. he's not sure if that gets less surprising at some point but just now he doesn't care. his lips are cool and a little chapped from the dry winter air and a general lack of chapstick but hopefully john doesn't mind as dave adjusts the angle of the kiss a little, unable to stop a small smile from blooming into it. ]

[Apparently this is what he thinks about telling the girls since they're so far from his mind right now he's forgotten the original topic. He doesn't mind the adjustment and he can feel the shift of Dave's mouth and allows his arms to shift over to drape across Dave's back. This is comfortable even if Dave's angular and despite having his eyes shut he's trying to also pin Dave down so he can't reach for his shades...stupid idea. But here we are.

The kiss stays slow but insistent and he allows Dave to make himself comfortable. At least he's not worried about if his lips are chapped or what his hands are doing or anything like that. He's only focused on breathing through his nose and making this last longer than usual.]

[ john's getting better at this, dave thinks. he has no idea why john is trying to pin him but he just goes with it, parting his lips a little as they move over john's mouth.

he's shivering, somewhere between cold and adrenaline. ]

[He's not automatically flinching at the open-mouthed kiss but he relaxes further into it, lips parting and tongue dipping just slightly to tease Dave's mouth before keeping the pace slow and purposeful. A hand moves up Dave's spin to try and quell the shaking because he just assumes Dave's cold, actually, but he's also trying to flip a blanket up to cover their legs like that's going to help.

It'd be easier if he just stopped kissing him, but no thanks.]

[ unfair? dave is thrown for a loop but john seems okay so he relaxes into his best friend further, a huff of something like laughter against john's lips as dave reaches down with a hand to help tug the blanket up.

his tongue swipes over john's lower lip but dave doesn't press it, letting john pick the pace. ]

[Kissing with tongue continues to be new and exciting, so even if he doesn't respond right away he does allow for his lips to part further and draws Dave's tongue a little closer. It's an agreement that this is okay but not exactly a demand like it had been before. He'll allow Dave to continue but he's also find lingering here. The blanket's tugged over them and John does his best to keep them warm and cozy here.

How do you pick a pace when you're not sure which one you want? A mystery.]

[ dave doesn't know what pace he wants either, secretly. he just...wants to be close to john, mostly, and to confirm nothing has changed despite the three girls who showed up.

also he's sixteen - near to seventeen - and just really wants to kiss his boyfriend. he's slow and cautious and gentle and he'd lie and say he wasn't, but he's a dumb boy. ]

[Nothing's changed. He's still John and Dave is still his best friend and they smooch sometimes now and it's getting easier each time it happens. Realistically he also knows the girls might not even care, so...he's the only one who's thinking a little too hard on it. Acting is way easier than thinking anyway, so yeah. He just really wants to kiss his boyfriend and deal with thought processes later.

It's slowing down but lingering, teasing and pliant all the same even if he's still trying to level with how to make this pleasurable and not jarring. He can appreciate the gentleness of what Dave's doing at least and his arms are looping tighter around Dave's waist and chest anyway. Apparently clinging is an answer here.]

[ john doesn't really have to try that hard. There's a lot to be said for the simple act of kissing back. being wanted does a lot more than even skill would do for dave just now, and he can acknowledge that to himself.

he lets his tongue flick out against john's, playful and way too besotted. ]

[Eventually they'll have to stop, he thinks. Eventually...but it can wait, and he continues letting his fingers move up Dave's spine curiously. It's not quite a song, but little fleeting notes just because his hands can't stay still. He tries not to laugh into the kiss when Dave's tongue moves but it's a nice feeling not having to freak out about everything.]

[ laughter is fine, dave thinks. maybe even preferable, because it's impossible to think of anything important done with john done without laughter. he pulls back after a second because he can't stop a smile (stupid) and there's too-fond affection in his gaze this close before he draws closer again, a brief kiss to john's lips before there's another to the side of his jaw, just because. ]

[Hope Dave likes hearing him continue to laugh even as Dave's mouth moves over his lips and his face.]

Daaave....[It's quiet but also playful as he paps the side of his face.] What are you doing?

[parodeity]

[ his mouth moves against the side of john's neck. ] Kissing you? [ but he stops, because he thinks maybe john was asking him to. ]

[windeity]

[He doesn't mind considering he's turning his head to lean into it.] Yeah, I figured...it's okay.

[parodeity]

[ hm. there's a thoughtful little pause before his lips press up against warm skin again. ] ...I like you.

[ and he's back to that again. ]

[windeity]

[His lips curl up to a smile.] I like you, too. More than I think you think.

[parodeity]

[ luckily john cant see that flustering dave like this. he's torn between nuzzling john's neck to let off a rush of affection or kissing him again and sort of just ends up doing both, deciding not to say something probably dumb. ]

[windeity]

[It's fine. He's just pulling Dave a little closer to continue cuddling and leeching affection while he can.]

Still ridiculous though.
