[ for some godforsaken reason john gets each of these images in order throughout the day at random intervals (spaced via classes and how bored dave is in them). dave refuses to stop sending the meme or included sbahj'd or badly photoshopped dave versions of the meme. some include random snaps of john pasted in equally badly? dave also apparently is just not responding in non-meme variants today until john's out of his last class and has probably acquired like 300+ texts from his wayward boyfriend and dave's loitering around nearby in order to fall into step and complain: ]

I'm cold. [ clearly his earlier actions need zero explanation because they're probably distressingly normal. ]

[What in the everloving fuck, Dave. John doesn't even know what to say and all of the texts are read and some are responded to in varying degrees of "what in the everloving fuck, dave" but otherwise they just happen.

But he steps out of his last class looking at Dave's last meme-text and he's almost surprised to find said-wayward boyfriend.

Without really missing a beat he swings his backpack up into his sylladex and pulls on his jacket as an indication of an offer. He has a sweater on underneath, he's fine.]

[ he takes the offer via stepping too close and slinging his arms around john's waist under his jacket - and he wasn't lying about being cold and making a disgruntled noise as he basically makes a nuisance of himself. ]

[Goddamnit that's not--okay, whatever. He's not going to do much but briefly lift a hand and ruffle Dave's hair a little, letting him cling that way before attempting to walk while keeping him warm.]

I am now, yeah. Something in mind?

[ no dave is not walking stay put this is logical somehow ]

If you want. [ not a clear answer. he clarifies some after a beat: ] I made a thing which we can either do or not so back at the dorm? Kind of a date I guess.

[Cool now they can both start to be cold. Thank you, Dave. But he gives him a curious look nevertheless.]

[ john is so welcome and it turns into basically hugging john and leaning his head on john's shoulder. hi john. hope they're not disrupting the flow of student traffic. ]

[People can go around, it's fine? John meanwhile looks at Dave briefly before turning his head just enough to place a brief kiss to Dave's face. Since it's there, anyway.]

[ .............A SURPRISED PAUSE. he's not used to that in public. ]

[He's trying to get better about it, at least. But there's a grin.]

[ dave's unlikely to react with anything other than wary surprise for a long time tbh. he shrugs and lets go for now, though. ]

I know you do. [It's fine, they can start walking and John catches Dave's fingers in his hand to hold while they head for the dorm.] And it was fine, I guess. Class-like. It was one of my GenEd lectures but it wasn't as terrible as it could have been. What was your schedule today?

[ john used to try to hold his hand back before they were dating, so dave doesn't react to that other than to let him, at least. ]

All over the place. I've been off since early afternoon so I was doing...things. Since the original thing is impossible.

[Things John doesn't catch: that. So instead he just holds out a hand and a bag of candy apple rings drops out of his sylladex. John's apparently taken to carrying things around for whenever.]

Not that many, but yeah. [He'll hand them off and begin heading up though.]

[ oh. dave stares for a second but takes them, dropping john's other hand so he can like, pull one out. since he...asked for them he guesses... ]

Fuck off. [It's pretty cheerful nevertheless and he moves to also pull a candy out of the bag as they ascend to their room.] I don't have to shut my eyes on the actual stairs or anything, right?

Yeah, likewise. [And thus they get to their room eventually and he waits for Dave to open the door, making a show of closing his eyes and everything.]

Don't open them until I say. [ and he opens the door, pushing john in gently with a hand at the small of his back until dave can get the door shut. he watches for the cat immediately running over to trip them up, and takes both of john's hands to drag him over towards the bed, where he makes john sit. ]

Okay - not okay to open, just like, conversationally okay - so, what do you know about today?

[Okay. Well, this is a bed and that's fine, he hears the tip-tap-tip-tap of Mewpac's claws while she's running across the floor, but otherwise...hm.]

It's the last day of January? Oh and something about the moon.

[ he's pretty much just standing in front of john, but dave does lean down to tilt john's chin up to briefly and as chastely as possible give him a peck on the lips. ]

[ the moon thing was right: it's stupid and impossible to view an eclipse or even the stars with the dome.

but with a lot of youtube videos and loops of time and supplies, it's possible to make a pretty neat star projector. he took down all their glow in the dark things to be replaced later, and otherwise the room is...
