[ no, no seconds for john? dave doesn't even ask what he's mumbling, just presses a kiss to the back of john's neck in sleepy response. he kind of registered the need to shave; thanks to the lalonde half of his genetics dave...doesn't have the same problem, and he just showered anyway. he'd make a bigger deal about it but he doesn't bother to use words or tease when he's not sure john won't just doze back off again.

the...USUAL, WHY IS THIS USUAL: caught breath in his throat as he holds it for several heartbeats and tries (fails) to stamp his pulse down, a weird tensing and a quiet noise in the back of his throat. dave doesn't actually loosen his hold or pull away and he doesn't return the favor but, like, okay, that's happening he guesses.
