...I wasn't sure you were serious about time travel being connected to that. [There's an uncertain look.] Why do you need to try again if that is a thing you're seeing?

Because I need to know if its a fluke. [ ... ] I debated just going anyway and not telling you.

[windeity]

I really appreciate that you did not do that since that would make things even worse. [He just kind of settles down and waits to hear more, resting his chin on his knees.] ...what would I have to do?

[parodeity]

Call me back if I freeze up.

[windeity]

[Still alarming.] Okay. I'm ready whenever you are but it does not have to be right this moment.

[parodeity]

I'd rather now, just because...I kind of want to know where the fuck my powers are at?

[ so he doesn't rely on them at the wrong time just because he thinks he has them. ]

If I'd tried it mid-battle I'd have gotten myself killed. I'm almost lucky I only tried it for a dumb gardening project.

[windeity]

[It's hard not to look super-worried suddenly, but fair. That makes sense and he frowns a little.]

Right. Lucky. [A deep inhale...but he nods.] I'm ready when you are. I'll figure it out.

[parodeity]

Right. [ then he proceeds to do nothing, chewing his lip and eyeing john. ]

[windeity]

[He's trying to be as calm as possible but this is starting to sound like a bad idea.] ...you're sure?

[parodeity]

Oh. Yeah, I am, I was just...

[ debating. ignis called him back out of his own head with a whistle and if he's going back to that he kind of wants to ask if john will give him an anchor, let dave hold his hand. but it's a little too much to ask for when he still won't let himself ask for even smaller than that things. ]

Being stupid. It's not that big a deal. I mean, it is, but it's not like it's new.

[windeity]

[He still doesn't look that convinced. He'd do whatever it took to keep Dave grounded but simultaneously he doesn't know what that is. So he sits patiently and nods a little.]

It's still kind of scary though. I don't think you ever said anything like that back home when you were timetraveling.

[parodeity]

It never happened like this before. But I've seen all of us die a lot. So. It's not new. I'm being dumb.

[ right. seeing it again isn't a big deal, and this time if he's ready for it, maybe it won't be quite so terrifying? if it happens again. ]

Anyway. [ he sits up properly, then rolls up to his feet, cracking his knuckles. ]

[windeity]

That doesn't mean. [He stops himself then and just kind of bites at his lip. It doesn't mean it's any easier though. So Dave sits up and John watches, hands flexing in his lap as he waits.]

...are you sure about this?

[parodeity]

Yeah. Yeah, I'll be fine. [ he still kind of wants to ask john if he can hold his hand but dave...

doesn't do that. instead he calls up his timetables, and forces himself to make the records scratch and skip.

from the outside it looks like he's pretty much frozen in place, mind a million miles away, so whatever. ]

[He's not entirely sure what to look for and he's nervous, sitting upright and tense as he watches Dave for a moment. He doesn't say anything at first but he keeps his eyes on Dave's back to make sure he doesn't disappear immediately.]

[parodeity]

[ he definitely doesn't disappear at all. really, dave doesn't react a whole lot. he pales, maybe, and his breath catches in his throat, but after a second he forces his breathing even wherever (whenever) he mentally is.

he doesn't even really need john to call him back, or maybe never expected john to really manage that. if john's still frozen up in a minute or so dave manages to break it off himself, even though he won't really say a word after. ]

[windeity]

[He's still for about 20 seconds before he's up on his feet, moving so that he's in front of Dave and watching him carefully. He's not sure if touching him will help or hurt, so a hand reaches out to hover in front of Dave just in case.

When he breaks out of it, John's still standing with his hand hovering and he blinks, unsure if he should speak first.]

[parodeity]

[ not much to see with his shades on; behind them his eyes are tracking things unseen, but with them - it's just dave, pale and clenching his teeth and then startling back a hair when he seems to snap out of whatever it is.

he apparently did not expect john to be anywhere near to touching him, and even if that was a thing he'd wanted (did want?) he doesn't complete the gesture.

probably he should talk about whatever that was, but instead he chooses to do what they have been doing and ignores mostly everything emotional he's putting himself through. he told john as much as john needs to know, probably, for the time being.

so he focuses on the practical. ]

I need to check outside of the town.

[windeity]

[That's not really a good sign either. He lets his hand drop slowly.]

I'm coming with you. What happened? What did you see? [He doesn't ask "are you okay" because it's too easy for Dave to say yes and John not knowing if that's the truth.]

[parodeity]

[ dave swallows for a second, then just shrugs. ]

Same theme, slight variations. Lots of death.

[ it's a neon warning sign not to time travel, maybe, and yet. ]

Faster if we fly?

[windeity]

[Yeah okay, what if he never lets Dave timetravel ever again?]

Right. [A nod.] Right. We can fly to check on things. Whenever you're ready.

[parodeity]

Let's go. [ ready is relative and dave just lets himself lift off because he'd rather be doing something even if it's something stupid.

he's brilliant ]

[windeity]

Wait for me! [Dave's already in the air and John moves back just a bit to kick off into the air to follow.]

[parodeity]

I'm not goin' all that fast. [ he COULD go faster maybe - but in the air he can't really flashstep, so...? ] Let's just...head out wood-wards?

[windeity]

[Once he's up in the air he can keep up, but he nods and looks toward the woods by Flavo.] Okay...you have something in particular in mind?
