I would ask what kind of juice, but since it is you that seems like a dumb question. Juice is fine?

[ yep! it's apple juice. that appears with the cups and he pours it. then he pulls out a potion vial and puts a drop in each... ]

Okay, drink up. And hey, if this goes south you still get a perk out of it? I mean, besides my awesome company.

[Impressive. He continues to sit and not help in any way since he figures Dave would tell him no anyway, not to mention needs something to burn off extra nervous energy.]

That is a thing to consider, sure. [But the look he gives him says this won't go south. He picks up the cup in front of him.] Cheers, or whatever. [He'll take a sip at least. Dave, are you going to do the same?]

[He drains about half of his glass before he sets it down and nods.] I was actually waiting for you so I could ask what you wanted for dinner, but then this happened.

anyway he decaptchalogues two plates and also...a pan of pizza. it's double cheese, with pepperoni. the pepperoni is made of, like, spideer meat but desperate times and desperate measures!

[He just stares for a second. That's pizza? That's pizza.]

How did you even make an actual pizza? [Dave stop being so anxious? It's fine? He's actually pretty thrilled with this chain of events but he has So Many Questions.]

I begged Ignis for help. [ he's not ashamed to admit this? dave smiles a little uncertainly. look. ] And the parts that don't have color still, well, I figured the potion would like...cover our bases.

Dude, this is actually more than I was expecting. [He's trying not to laugh lest Dave take it the wrong way, but...he's happy.] It looks mostly right at least.

[But.] Did you tell Ignis why you were doing it?

[ he'd probably be relieved at laughter? ] I told him I asked someone out and needed help with date food, but I never mentioned who?

[...shrug.] I don't think I would mind even if you did. [He's still very fond of this whole set up and he's lifting a hand to poke at the pizza.] And since Ignis helped make it, I think it passes inspection.

Maybe I want to keep you all to myself for a while? [ dave pulls a slice off and puts it on his own plate, because he figures he should Eat at the dinner portion of the date.

So, this is the part where we get to know one another. Want to play twenty questions, or want to admit we already know most shit? I mean, there is some important stuff I don't know.

You've always had me to yourself whenever you want. [Just saying. But he's also nabbing a slice of pizza, taking a bite before setting the rest down on a plate. He's actually glad the potion works but he also thinks maybe this would have been fine enough.]

What things do you actually not know? It's been six years.

Well... [ a deep breath, like he's about to ask something important. ] If you had to eat slugs or worms for the rest of your life and nothing else, which of the two would you pick?

Dude, gross! [He's picking off a piece of pepperoni to throw at Dave????] Also slugs, duh. People eat snails so it can maybe be the same thing.

[ didnt john want him to lighten up? dave starts laughing. ] Okay, okay. What about cake or scorpions?

That should be no contest. It's scorpions. You could probably fry them and make them okay.

Cake or tar? [ yeah he's just teasing john now ]

Still tar? [He makes another face.] Mud or rotten apples?

[Sooort of.] You could have just asked me that in the first place. [Another bite of his pizza stalls him from answering for a moment.] You have not scared me off yet if that is what you are worried about.
